Abhishek Bachchan at IIFA talks about Indian cinema’s widespread, and stage fright

IIFA aka International Indian Film Academy Awards, is an award function held for Bollywood actors every year. Since 2000, IIFA has been a platform for several budding and deserving artists to receive the recognition they’re looking for. The winners are decided by the fans who vote for their favourite Bollywood artist online. The functions are held across the globe every year.

For 2023, the decided venue was Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island. As this article is being written, the award function is still going on. However, it’s a matter of minutes for news to spread around in India. Currently, we have news of Abhishek Bachchan – hosting the show accompanied by Vicky Kaushal – talking about Indian cinema’s progress and other relevant topics. This year is Abhishek’s second consecutive hosting role for IIFA, for which he remains grateful.

On Thursday, we had Farah Khan and Rajkummar Rao, Salman Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, Nora Fatehi, Jacqueline Fernandez, Amit Trivedi, Badshah, Nucleya, Sunidhi Chauhan at the press conference. Abhishek begins by praising the horizons the Indian film industry has reached. “It is reaching different corners of the world,” he says. Then, he moves on to stage fright as a host. Contradictory to the negative connotation we’ve heard about nervousness on stage, Abhishek chooses to look at it differently. According to him, if it makes you nervous, it’s a sign it matters to you, whether you give your best or not. “I’d hate to be in a situation where I am careless about it.”

The Grand Finale is on May 27th anchored by Abhishek and Vicky. We’ll get to witness super-duper performances by Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Nora Fatehi, and Rakul Preet Singh.

IIFA has always been something Indians have looked forward to.
