Vadivelu, popularly know by his nickname ‘Vaigai Puyal’ has teamed up with Oscar winning music composer, A. R. Rahman for a song in the movie, Maamannan. Vadivelu, known for his well-timed comic scenes in movies is an admired and popular Kollywood actor. Hence, the news of the song with AR Rahman came as a surprise to netizens.
AR Rahman announced the unexpected collaboration on his Instagram handle. In the photos he shared, the singer can be seen with Vadivelu and filmmaker Mari Selvaraj, lyricist Yugabharathi, and cinematographer Theni Eswar. In the caption, the music composer wrote, “Recorded a song with our Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu.. he made us laugh throughout and made our session very memorable. #maeriselvaraj and the #Mamannan team.”
This is not the actor’s first stint as a singer. In 2022, he sang the song, ‘Panakkaran’ for his last film, Naai Sekar Returns which was composed by Santhosh Narayanan. Maamannan is an upcoming Tamil movie directed by Mari Selvaraj. The movie stars Udhayanidhi Stalin, Vadivelu, Fahadh Faasil and Keerthy Suresh in lead roles. The posters for movie were released by the makers. Vadivelu’s role in the movie seems to be a prime one according to the posters released. He is seen sitting alongside Udhayanidhi with a gun in his hand.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the film’s release as the posters and the first looks of all the actors were gripping. Now with the announcement of the collab, fans are more excited for the flick. The film is being headlined by Udhayanidhi Stalin and is expected to be the actor’s last big film before beginning his political career.
