6 years of Judwaa 2

Judwaa 2 movie

Judwaa 2, one of the best comedy movies in B-Town with Varun Dhawan in a dual role, Taapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez completes 6 years today. After it’s release on September 29th, 2017, the movie instantly became everyone’s favourite. But, what are the leads saying about the movie’s making?

Since this was a dual character role, the complexities that came with it were different to that of a regular movie. Here, he needs to adapt to two characters simultaneously, which isn’t a cakewalk. It takes several months worth of time to get into the personality and then act like it in front of the camera. Explaining the same the actor said, “I did a lot of research for the film. I have two friends Aman and Pawan who are twins in real life, so I tried to find out how is it. In fact, I even tried to find out if one has a girlfriend so how does she tell them apart, I mean doesn’t she accidentally catch hold of the other one. I did find out that sometimes twins take advantage of the fact.”

Taapsee Pannu, on the other hand, had different intentions behind taking up the film. Before this, she was stereotyped, finding her incapable of being a mainstream actor. “When I did Judwaa 2, I didn’t only want to achieve a certain box office figure but also break the myth that a girl who works in unconventional films cannot be a mainstream actor,” Taapsee says. The actor says that it was a much needed step to break out of the mould and perception that people had created about her. She explains, “The stereotyping is out there to eat you. If I didn’t do Judwaa 2, people would’ve kept me aside saying that I’m can only play offbeat roles. I can do both now.”

She says that she’s now happy to tread the middle path and strike a balance between mainstream and content-driven cinema. “What has happened from Judwaa 2 to now is that the line between glamourised and content-driven films has blurred. I’m, in fact, doing a film this year which will be highly glamourised but it’ll have a very strong story and my character will also be very strong. I’m hoping that I can continue walking through this middle path in the future too,” she shares.

Jacqueline Fernandez’s take on the movie was a light one. “We’ve had so much fun shooting and we’ve all tried our best to do as much justice to those songs, we’ve treated them like newborn babies. We had to be extra attentive too! The hard work will definitely pay off,” she said.

Adding, “I’m excited and nervous to work with Ganesh (Acharya) master again after Taang Uthake in Housefull 3. He choreographed the songs back in the days and he is calling the shots for us as well.” Judwaa 2 is a remake of the 1997 blockbuster film Judwaa that had Karisma Kapoor, Salman Khan and Rambha. The cast of the upcoming film, Jacqueline, Varun Dhawan and Tapsee Pannu are recreating the evergreen songs ‘Tan Tana Tan’ and ‘Oonchi Hai Building”.
