SOS: How SOS works and here are the Do’s and Don’ts and essential life skills during an earthquake

Save Our Souls is the derivation of SOS. The term’s origin and use began reportedly post the year 1905 when a Morse code’s use was prominent in the West. SOS is also called Save Our Ship and Save Our Souls but is universally used to claim and seek help.

After various debates, discussions and changes, the Indian Government has decided to train the students with life skills that promote the use of techniques and essential measures that should be taken in moments of emergency or crisis.

For instance, imagine an emergency When in crisis at a mining site as the miners blast a spot beneath the water area. Their safety precautions manual suggests that they should reach the highest spot past the barrier door to be provided with help.

Every field has advantages and disadvantages, whether on-site or off-site; schools are responsible for helping the students of the nation’s future be capable of making decisions and taking essential measures when in need of help due to natural calamities. The educational system decided to teach the younger generation about life skills in 2020, which was then ruled to be implemented by 2022.

India, a country with the world’s 2nd highest population, has around 14 lakh schools nationwide, but there is barely any report on how many schools will teach Life Skills by the end of 2023.
