Bollywood Guide to Mental Health, films that normalize Mental Health

The filmmakers and artists in the last few years found the need to make films that help audiences normalize someone or themselves seeking therapy. Therapy could be of various kinds; while a few include interactive sessions, a few revolve around relieving stress through meditation.

#1 Dear Zindagi: Shahrukh Khan and Alia Bhatt starrer Dear Zindagi directed by Gauri Shinde, normalizes seeking therapy and opening up to a profession when in need. This film is a perfect example of embracing the imperfections. The 2016 film encompasses themes like past unhealed traumas, anxiety, and embracing life.

#2 Barfi: Ranbir Kapoor, Illeana D’Cruz and Priyanka Chopra starrer Barfi, directed by Anurag Basu, addressed differently-abled individuals. An autistic spectrum disorder woman and a deaf and mute man lived a better life with each other than many normal individuals. People with disabilities are still people who share the same emotions and feelings, and normalizing differently-abled individuals makes the film the best in itself.
