Samantha’s take on ‘female in the male-dominated industry’ make a splash

Shaakuntalam, the mythological drama headlined by Samantha Ruth Prabhu, will release in theatres on April 14. The film was earlier scheduled to hit the screens on November 4, 2022, but the release was delayed to make the film available in the 3D format as well. Ahead of the release, Samantha’s words on the male-dominated industry are catching everyone’s attention.

Talking about male-dominated industry Samantha said “As a woman in this industry, it’s not enough that you are performing to the maximum of your abilities. It’s important that you go even further because this is such a male-dominated industry. You have to do a lot extra to be able to pull off projects, to be able to get people to trust and invest in you. It does take a lot, it does take a lot of work. But having said that, I have had producers who supported me in this project.”

Also talking about Shaakuntalam, Samantha added, “This movie started off at a certain budget, but ended up being a lot more. And my producer didn’t hesitate at any point of time, ‘saying no, this is the girl at the core of it, I can’t do it.’ He believed in the project. He trusted the director, he trusted the vision and he went for it. And this is probably the costliest movie that was made with a girl. And it’s very pressurizing. But at the same time, it has taken a lot of hard work for many, many years to do this”.
