What went down at the launch of project-k at the San Diego comic-con :
Kalki 2898 AD, helmed by a director who was able to make a name for himself with a very short list of moves to his name, Nag Ashwin, has fans dripping with eager anticipation. Nag Ashwin, who blossomed under the teachings of Shekar Kammula, truly made a mark with Mahanati, a film that brings out the beauty in tragedy.
Fans had high hopes for this project with such a powerful director and talented actor, Prabhas. Thankfully, the teaser glimpse put an end to anyone who hated Prabhas’ poster from the movie, which looked fan-made at best. Post the release of the teaser, at San Diego’s comic-con, fans retracted any premature bad comments they made in regards to the film.
During the event, attended by Nag Ashwin, Kamal Hassan, Prabhas, Rana, and Mr. Bachchan virtually. In a fun interactive session, Nag Ashwin stated that he was really excited for everyone to “meet India”, saying “if you have a superman that can fly into the sky, we have hanuman that can eat the sun,” which received hoots and hollers from the crowd.
When the host asked the question of what makes Indian cinema different, Kamal Hassan answered with the most epic response, saying it is actually the energy the audiences bring that makes Indian cinema stand out. He said “We make the stories, they make the stars.” Hassan continued by praising his co-stars Prabhas and Amitabh, to which the latter quipped, “don’t be so modest, you are much much greater than all of us.”
Another adorable moment from the comic-con event going viral on social media is when Nag tossed the mike to Prabhas, and as Prabhas was struggling to answer, Rana comes to the rescue and says “If Bahu doesn’t speak, Bhalla does” and proceeded to answer to the relief of Prabhas. Rana also joked that Prabhas is a silent man and could pass the whole event without saying a word.
Rana continues his love for his dear friend and Bahubali co-star by saying ” I’m going to introduce you to a person with whom i worked with for 5 years. We have been fighting and breaking different parts of our bodies.
And after the biggest franchise in Indian movies, he consistently kept building new big franchises, whether it was action, mythology, love stories or now science fiction. And the reason he is a star is not all of this but the kind, amazing human being he is.”
Prabhas did thankfully take to the mike eventually and talked about his role in the film, saying, ” he is a superhero and the interesting part is he’s really funny. I think in the entire project K he is the only funny guy. I liked the way Nag Ashwin designed the character.”
