Mega Prince Varun Tej has been going through a rough patch, and all his recent films ended up as duds. The actor is known for trying different subjects all the time. He was seen in an Air Force drama, Operation Valentine, which also marks his Hindi debut.
Varun Tej is currently busy shooting for his upcoming film Matka. Varun’s market has come down with the failures of Ghani and Ghandeevadhari Arjuna. Now, his latest film, Operation Valentine, has also ended up as a big failure.
Varun Tej’s Matka slashed
According to sources close to the film development, These consistent failures have now affected Varun’s upcoming film Matka. Now, the downfall in Varun’s market value is affecting its budget.
As it is a period film and features an extensive cast and crew, makers initially planned to picture Matka with a big budget. However, with the decline in Varun’s market value, cost-cutting is being made in the production of the movie.
However, close sources say there is no truth in this, and the film is being shot with the planned budget, but Matka will be made on a constrained budget.
The previous month, it was heard that the makers had kept the project on hold due to budget constraints. The discussions are going on for now, but the project still needs to be shelved.
Matka storyline
Touted to be a period gangster drama, Matka is set in the 1960s-1980s backdrop. Varun reportedly plays the role of a gangster in the movie. A vast set depicting old Vizag city is constructed on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The film will be an action-packed period drama with a story of a span of 24 years. Nora Fatehi and Meenakshi Chaudhary will play the leading roles in this movie.
Varun Tej is joining forces with director Karuna Kumar of ‘Palasa’ fame for his 14th film, which is to be produced on a grand scale by Mohan Cherukuri (CVM) and Dr Vijender Reddy Teegala of Vyra Entertainments.
