New look before military enlistment: why EXO’s Kai did a free fanmeet

Kim Jong-in, popular as ‘Kai’, is 29 years old and an all-rounder. Coming from Suncheon, South Jeolla Province, he’s a South Korean actor, model, singer, and dancer. Hold on! There’s more. He’s a member of two groups, one is the South Korean-Chinese boy group EXO, and the second is the South Korean supergroup SuperM.

Recently, on May 9th, Kai conducted a free fan meet and gave out a rather worrisome message to his fans. He told, “I’m sorry and sad that I won’t be able to see you, but there will be many better days ahead.” Although they knew what it meant, it didn’t take away the pain of separation the message held. Kai’s fans have always been supportive of his decisions, courageously overlooking their hurt.

A while back, he had displayed his interest in the Korean military but his admirers weren’t expecting an enlistment announcement. On May 10th, before entering the training center, he uploaded a selfie in his new military haircut, his hair shorter than an inch.

He initiated the fan meet with this debut solo ‘Mmmh’. He had a very up-close and personal interaction with his fans as if it were a casual, homely setting, a friend called over. He read out letters he’d written. At last, he couldn’t hold his tears. He said through his sobs, “It was even more disappointing because I was preparing for a solo concert in August. I shed tears because of the passion and hard work I prepared. I’m not shaken. Let’s do our best for each other. I will be spending my time studying, practicing hard, and fulfilling my military duty, so please wait for me.”

Kai will be deeply missed on stage but he will always his fans’ support, fame or no fame!
