Barbie 2 ?; Greta Gerwig to helm a sequel ?

Barbie, the liveaction / fantasy comedy film starring Margot Robie as the namesake, was released yesterday and is receiving nothing but wonderful responses.

The film’s blockbuster performance at the box office and amongst movie-goers has already led to fans talking about a sequel. The film has made 22.3 M dollars from just its previous shows, which has increased the chances for a sequel to the Ryan-Margot starrer.

It has been reported that the movie’s producers, Warner Bros, have not green-light Barbie2, but due to the exceptional success, fans are beginning to speculate the drop of an announcement regarding a sequel.

Gret Gerwig, the films director, previously teased a second Barbie movie, saying, “This project is the launch of a world and a bunch of different Barbie movies. There’s a tone and a humor and a joy, and obviously, the world is so beautiful.

I want to go back to Barbie Land.” “The main thing I’m focused on is the next 15 days and then I’ll see what happens after that. I will say I loved making it so much. It really allowed us to go in all these different directions and I don’t think any other movie would have afforded those opportunities. It was almost like I got to live out my dream of making a 1950s sound-stage musical, which I can’t imagine anything else would have been,” stated the filmmaker.

Another theory is that Barbie’s success has opened the doors for the live action remakes of franchises like ‘Polly-Pocket’ and ‘Hot Wheels’, which would explain the amount of promotion Mattel has done for the movie Barbie.

Barbie has been receiving spectacular reviews and, whether there is a part two or not, you should check out the film which released yesterday on July 21 2023.
