5 Actors that Almost Played ‘Star-Lord’:
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for its wide array of stars that play iconic superheroes, while several actors may audition. Only the right match is selected to portray the role. Whether it’s Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man or Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Marvel’s casting is sheer perfection and Chris Pratt as the smart-mouthed and hilarious Star-Lord is no different. Adding to the list of Chris-s on set, Pratt was first seen as the Space Ravager in 2014’s Guardians Of The Galaxy. Although, now 3 movies later, we can’t imagine anyone else in the role, initially 15 other actors were considered for the part. Few of whom ended up in the MCU in other roles. Lets check out some of the actors who almost played Peter Quil:
1. Zachary Levi
who is known for his role in DC’s Shazam, explained in an interview that his audition for the role of Peter Quill helped him land the DC role.
2. Jim Sturgess
The actor confirmed that he auditioned in an interview, saying, “I got way further than I’d ever imagined I possibly could. As you get further and further down the line, you start caring about it more and more. The competitiveness in you starts kicking in.”
3. Adam Brody
The star admitted in a recent interview that he “wanted that one,” talking about how the role as Star-lord was something he really liked and hoped to play.
4. John Krasinski
Although he does make an appearance as Reed Richards in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness , it is reported that he auditioned for several other roles in the MCU.
5. Glenn Howerton
During an appearance on a popular talk show in 2021 the actor revealed that he was the second choice for the role, saying, “I went and auditioned for it like I think a lot of actors did. I had no idea how close I got. I walked out of there, and I was like, ‘Ya, it went OK.’ But actually, as I was walking out of the waiting room, I saw Chris Pratt, and I remembered thinking, ‘Oh, he’s perfect for this,’” he said, adding that he later heard that James had called him the second choice. “No one ever told me. So I had no idea.”
Thankfully though all the actors on this list are phenomenal and would have done well as an Avenger, we are happy that the role ultimately went to Chris Pratt!
