Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire Box Office Collections Day 5

‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ successfully tackled its first Monday test, maintaining a strong performance at the Indian box office after a promising weekend. According to initial estimates from an industry tracker, the monster epic, produced by Warner Bros., raked in Rs 5.55 crore on Monday, April 1, bringing its total net collection in India to Rs 44.55 crore.

The film’s original English version contributed Rs 2.5 crore to its Monday earnings, while the Hindi-dubbed version also garnered attention, adding Rs 1.6 crore to the overall tally. Additionally, the Telugu and Tamil versions contributed Rs 60 lakh and Rs 85 lakh, respectively. With such robust performance, ‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ is on track to surpass the Rs 50 crore mark soon.

Similar to its weekend performance, the Hollywood blockbuster outshone major Indian releases of the week, namely ‘Crew’ and ‘Aadujeevitham’, on Monday. While ‘Crew’, starring Kareena Kapoor, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon, managed to earn Rs 4.50 crore, Prithviraj’s survival drama ‘Aadujeevitham’ netted Rs 5.25 crore on its fourth day of release.

Globally, the film had a weekend haul of around 194 million dollars, showcasing its impressive appeal. It particularly resonated with audiences in the USA and Asian countries, although its performance in Canada and Europe could have been stronger. Nonetheless, it’s evident that the movie is poised to surpass the success of ‘Godzilla vs Kong’, which released amidst the pandemic. The current goal is to surpass ‘Dune 2’, another Warner Bros film, in terms of box office performance.

The film’s widespread appeal across different linguistic demographics contributed to its surpassing of Indian releases and securing its position as the highest-grossing film by the end of the weekend. This achievement underscores the broad appeal and popularity of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” among Indian audiences of diverse linguistic backgrounds.

Directed by filmmaker Adam Wingard, the highly anticipated sequel kicks off its overseas rollout, ventured by Warner Bros has slated to dominate the global box office with an anticipated debut of approximately $135M.
