“Family Star,” starring Tollywood actor Vijay Deverakonda after the blockbuster “Geetha Govindam.” The film is a blend of family drama and romantic comedy, sprinkled with some mass moments. In the trailer, unveiled on Thursday, Vijay’s family is shown sharing a warm rapport with one of their neighbors, portrayed by Mrunal Thakur.

The trailer kicks off with Vijay’s character offering prayers for a life filled with gains and no losses. Mrunal’s character is introduced as his close neighbor, much to his annoyance. While she develops feelings for him first, the story later shifts to the US, where Vijay’s character works under her. However, complications arise when Mrunal’s character begins to believe that she is bringing trouble into his life, leading to a dramatic confrontation where she angrily slaps him.
Initially, “Family Star” was planned with a meticulously calculated budget, with Vijay Deverakonda and director Parasuram opting to share profits rather than demanding hefty remunerations. However, unforeseen shoot delays during production led to an unexpected increase in expenses, leaving producer Dil Raju frustrated, given the film’s family-oriented theme. Despite these budgetary challenges, fans eagerly anticipate the film’s release, with estimates pegging the budget at over Rs 50 crores.
Vijay Devarakonda Remuneration
In terms of remuneration, industry buzz suggests that Vijay Deverakonda commanded a fee of over Rs 15 crores for his role in “Family Star.” This marks a significant increase from his reported fee of Rs 12 crores for his previous film, “Kushi.” Following the success of “Geetha Govindam,” Deverakonda has reportedly revised his remuneration, with speculation suggesting it could be as high as Rs 20 crores.
Family Star featuring Vijay Devrakonda and Mrunal Thakur as the main leads, Parasuram Petla’s second collaboration together. Their first project was for the hit film “Geetha Govindam,” which came out in 2018. Mrunal Thakur, best known for her role in Sita Ramam, will also be seen with Vijay Deverakonda on screen for the first time.
The film is being produced by Dil Raju for Sri Venkateswara Creations. KU Mohanan will serve as the cinematographer, with Marthand K Venkatesh acting as editor. Family Star is scheduled to release on April 5.
