Family reveals that famed Mahabharat actor Gufi Paintal passed away at the age of 79 from age-related health problems.

Gufi Paintal, a seasoned actor, passed away on Monday morning at the age of 79, according to his family. Gufi, well known for portraying Shakuni Mama in BR Chopra’s 1980 television production of Mahabharat, passed away on Monday in Mumbai as a result of age-related health difficulties. “Unfortunately, he is no more. He passed away at the hospital at around 9 am. His heart gave up. He passed away peacefully in his sleep,” his nephew Hiten Paintal told. The actor’s family released the following statement: “With deep sorrow, we announce the sad passing of our father Mr. Gufi Paintal (Shakuni Mama). This morning, he passed away gently in the company of his loved ones.

Hiten, Gufi’s nephew, was quoted as saying, “He died today at about 9 am. His heart was failing.” His condition was critical when he was recently admitted to the hospital. Hiten previously revealed that his uncle was suffering from age-related health problems and was not doing well. “He had heart and blood pressure problems. He continued to feel ill while all of this was happening. Now that the situation was critical, we took him to the hospital for observation. He has spent seven to eight days in the hospital. He was initially critical, but he is now stable,” Hiten had previously told PTI. Gufi is survived by his son, daughter-in-law, and a grandchild. The last rites will be held today at around 4 pm at a crematorium in suburban Andheri.

A few days back, actor Tina Ghaai also shared a health update of the seasoned actor on her Instagram handle. Sharing a picture of the actor, Tina wrote, “Gufi Paintal ji takleef mein hain prarthana ki jeeye (he is suffering, please pray for him).”
