Talks About Her Relationship….
Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan were always the most talked about couples in Bollywood. The couple met on the sets of Lagaan where Kiran was working as the assistant director later got married in 2005. They separated in 2021.
Speaking about their relationship. Kiran Rao in an interview stated “He’s been such a great support. We wouldn’t have this film without it, because he found the script, and he offered it to me to direct, which was incredibly fortuitous for me.”
When asked about directing a film about marriage when hers was ending, Kiran said there were a lot of issues they tackled in the film which in some way everyone experienced. She’s been fortunate enough that she never experienced trauma in any of her relationships.
Talking about her relationship with Aamir Khan Kiran said, “I continue to have a wonderful relationship with my producer and ex-husband. I continue to be supported by both my family and Aamir’s, so I feel that it’s all possible, and this film wants to convey that, and not make you throw out the baby with the bathwater.”
She stated that she tries to show in the film how one can find freedom in a marriage that is “within socially-normative relationships”. She stays away from social media which helped her drown out everything on public platforms.
Kiran Rao who made her directorial debut with Dhobi Ghat in 2011 is currently premiering her second directorial film under Aamir Khan production, Laapata Ladies at this year‘s Toronto International Film Festival.
