The K-pop girl group FIFTY FIFTY was recently accused of plagiarizing Turkish singer Evrencan Gündüz’s song ‘Sen Aşkımızdan’ which got released back in 2017. on April 26, the Turkish singer took to Instagram by uploading a reel where it starts playing girl group FIFTY FIFTY latest song ‘cupid’ then altered to his own composition labeling the K-pop girl group company plagiarism of the song.
Hearing the accusation initially, the company responded by saying their music producer lives overseas and will confirm once we get in touch with the producer. Agency has responded by addressing the accusation today by denying it’s not plagiarized on their site as they have contacted the original producer. Asking fans to put allegations to bed and listen to Cupid by showing support to girls, they officially said
“In response to the accusations, FIFTY FIFTY’s company ATTRAKT has been trying to contact the original producer of the track. On May 4, 2023, they finally managed to talk to the producer and stated to Korean media outlet CBS NoCutNews that the allegations were untrue.
The results of our checking with the original producer after the recent media mention of plagiarism suspicious for FIFTY FIFTY’s “Cupid,” is that the original producer does not even know of the Turkish song in question, and although there are similarities in terms of characteristics of pop music, we do not think that it is plagiarism. We are thankful for the media’s interest in FIFTY FIFTY. We ask for your understanding of the delay in response due to the time difference and we hope that any further speculation or gossip will be refrained from.”

FIFTY FIFTY consists of four members, Saena, Aran, Keena, and Sio. The group debuted in November 2022 with their album named ‘FIFTY’ and the title track ‘Higher’. On February 24, 2023, the group released its first single album, The Beginning: Cupid, along with the music video for the title track “Cupid”. The song, which was recorded both in Korean and English.
