Bollywood actress Bhumi Pedneker has consistently chosen films that challenge the societal status on specific critical issues. She also balanced out her filmography with a few commercial films but chose mainly content that puts the spotlight on society.
Her latest Bhakshak, directed by Pulkit, is a compelling and thought-provoking drama based on events surrounding a girl-child home in Bihar. Pednekar, who plays a Patna-based television journalist, Vaishali Singh, spoke about the film and what it took to play a character who fights against a corrupt system to uncover crimes against children.
A glimpse of Vaishali’s fight for justice for the young girls can be seen in the trailer. The film’s trailer flawlessly combines mystery, a compelling story, and top-notch acting. It’s one of those movies that captivates you and makes you want more. Bhakshak is made on a budget of 20 crore.
The makers have made an effort to bring up the subject of why some choose to remain silent in the face of horrific crimes against women occurring nearby. Apart from Bhumi Pednekar as journalist Vaishali Singh, Bhakshak also stars Sanjay Mishra, Sai Tamhankar, and Surya Sharma in pivotal roles. On February 9, Bhakshak will be available for streaming on Netflix.
