Belfast is unquestionably Kenneth Branagh’s most personal film to date, but it’s also sure to have universal resonance.

The film Belfast has Big Oscar buzz for nominating in the categories of Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Sound, and Best Original Screenplay.

The movie is a semi-autobiographical coming of age story written and directed by Kenneth Branagh. The story follows a young boy growing up in Northern Ireland in the late 60s, at the start of what is now called the Troubles- an ethn0-nationalist conflict that lasted for 30 years.

The protagonist boy, played by newcomer Jude Hill, and his family navigate living through divisive times while trying to stay together. The film also stars Jamie Dornan, Caitriona Balfe, Judi Dench, Ciaran Hinds, and Colin Morgan.

Critics are already calling it the Oscars front runner, and it already won the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. It’s generated a lot of interest because of its cast.

The movie already came out in U.S. theatres on November 12, 2021. In the U.K, it debuted in theatres on January 21, 2022.
