KJo’s take on OMG 2
Karan Johar, one of the biggest directors in Bollywood, gave his two cents about the recent blockbuster OMG 2 in a recent clip that went viral on Twitter.
Karan Johar was being asked if the experimentation phase when it comes to scripts, cast and marginalized roles has stopped in theatres and moved completely to OTT post-covid, he said that the experiments are still going on, bringing OMG 2 at the front seat as an example, after having rejected it in public. “OMG 2 is a massive experiment. To pull off a film that has Akshay in a strong supportive role, helming the film, talking about s*x education. And if you saw the film, I know the story. It is a very brave film to make in the mainstream.”

Off-late, cinema has been more revolutionary than ever. While we have average movies coming up too, we also have extremely crucial topics being covered in certain films and they’re getting the expected response, deservingly so. Karan Johar, who is known for making romantic, family drama movies turned the tables with his recent movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, shocking everyone to their cells and tissues.
On the outside, with the poster and trailer and keeping the presumption of KJo’s typical genre in mind, people expected the movie to be dramatic, melancholic, blended with romance and then a full stop. But KJo flabbergasted everyone when it occurred to them that amidst all that drama unfolding, KJo was addressing societal issues we didn’t expect to fit so well with a cliche film. But, he did what he did and that’s why he’s KJo, with some of the most amazing movies in his bucket.
OMG 2 is a Amit Rai directed film with Yami Gautam, Pankaj Tripathi and Akshay Kumar in the lead, revolving around the plea of a parent to the judiciary about the alarming need of s*x education to be normalized among teens.
