Vikramaditya Motwane desires additional theater screens for low-budget movies

Vikramaditya Motwane

Acknowledging the Vikrant Massey film “12th Fail” film’s success, Vikramaditya Motwane stated that it can serve as an intriguing case study of how a small- to mid-budget film can expand its audience if it remains in theaters and gains momentum through favorable word-of-mouth.

“’12th Fail’ is an excellent example of a movie that can succeed both critically and commercially. Any movie needs time for word-of-mouth to spread and for people to attend theaters in order for it to succeed in theaters after its opening day and weekend. In the instance of ’12th Fail,’ it was permitted to breathe because people were discussing the movie in the fourth and twelfth weeks, Motwane said in an interview with PTI.

According to Motwane, not every movie can debut in 5,000 or 2,000 theaters since some films require time to expand from hundreds to thousands of screens.

The Vidhu Vinod Chopra-directed film “12th Fail” has made over ₹70 crore at the global box office, whereas Varun Grover’s “All India Rank” did not play in theaters for very long, even with positive reviews.
