Vicky Khaushal’s Sam Bahadur’s first reviews!

Sam Bahadur, directed by Meghna Gulzar and starring Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra, and Fatima Sana Shaikh, is a credible film elevated by its performances and dialogues.

Sam Bahadur can be seen as sweet and engaging in the individual segments of Manekshaw’s life that comprise the film’s plot. They are very well shot, designed, and acted, and may just make it worthwhile to see this larger-than-life vignette reel in theatres. However, the threads that connect them, such as Manekshaw’s banter with his radio set-carrying cook, the leading man and his lady’s ballroom meet-cute — or the sequence in which he is seen making the wildly popular declaration about gurkhas and fear, feel disjointed and desperately need to be cut some slack due to the film’s largely upbeat tone says a film critic.

Sam Bahadur was directed by Meghna Gulzar and bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner of RSVP Movies. Vicky Kaushal leads a biographical war drama, Sam Bahadur, inspired by the real life of India’s first field marshal. The film’s trailer was released, built a decent buzz for the film, and is successfully running in the theatres.
