Venu Sriram.. Shy or Unlucky?

Director Venu Sriram debuted with the Oh My Friend movie back in 2011. In these 11 years, he has made just 3 very strange films. All the 3 films were good and received well yet the director, without any projects in hand. After his debut movie’s release, he waited for six long years to make the next movie MCA. The film starring Nani and Sai Pallavi was released in 2017 and was a good hit. Again, after 4 years of gap, Venu directed Pink’s Telugu remake, Vakeel Saab, with Pawan Kalyan and scored a hit. Yet here he is again, with no movies in hand. It’s noteworthy that all the movies Venu had done were only in Dil Raju’s Sri Venkateswara Cinemas banner. Is Dil Raju not letting Venu go out of his banner? Is Venu too shy to ask other producers to ask chances? Or is the director unlucky to have spent so much time in the shadows despite good hits?

Only Venu will know the answers to these questions. In 2016, he started a movie called Yevado Okadu, which was stopped even before scheduling. He announced a movie called Icon: Kanapadutaledu with Allu Arjun, which stopped too. According to inside sources, Bunny should have done the film once Pushpa is completed. But, as Pushpa part 1 scored a sensational hit all across India, Bunny is said to have changed his decision regarding the Icon movie. They say that he wants to do movies with only star directors and top-tier directors rather than small and debut directors. As a result, Venu is said to be shifting his focus to Akkineni Akhil. If the reports are to be believed, the director has already pitched the storyline to which Akhil nodded. Will the director be doing continuous films at least from now? We have to wait and see.
