Operation Valentine is based on the Balakot airstrike of 2019. The airstrike on February 26 was the retaliation of the Indian defence forces against the Pulwama attack of February 14, 2019. In the attack, over 40 Indian CRPF personnel were killed. The Indian defence forces’ vehicles were attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber in the Pulwama district.

Reportedly, Varun Tej and Manushi Chhillar starrer Operation Valentine has been made of a whopping ₹ 45 crore, with almost five crore spent solely on the CGI (computer-generated imagery) work. While the main lead, Varun Tej, was paid Rs 6 crores for the film, the female lead, Manushi Chillar, was paid Rs 3 crores.
