Twinkle Khanna made fun of King Charles III

Twinkle Khanna, an actor, made fun of King Charles III’s coronation by noting that the Kohinoor diamond, one of the British crown jewels, was absent. Following Queen Elizabeth’s passing, Buckingham Palace had declared that the contentious stone will not be used in the coronation ceremony.

The 105-carat diamond, which is named after a mountain of light in Persian, is thought to have been discovered more than 800 years ago in southern India along the bank of the revered Krishna River. It was eventually in the possession of Queen Victoria in the middle of the 19th century after travelling through various empires. However, according to folklore, the diamond is cursed and should only be worn by females, especially queen consorts. Twinkle claimed in her columns for the Times of India that the coronation reignited the old Kohinoor debate as Indians started asking for the return of the diamond that rightfully belongs to their nation from the United Kingdom.

“Traditionally, the notorious diamond-encrusted crown was worn by the Queen during her coronation. The Kohinoor would not be utilised in the ceremonial activities on this particular occasion, according to a statement from the palace. This didn’t stop Indians from requesting the Kohinoor’s return once more. I only want to make the British return our two other anmol ratans, Vijay Mallya and Lalit Modi, in addition to the Kohinoor, as demanded earlier, she joked.
