The Telugu film industry was bombarded with back-to-back star-studded films like RRR, Acharya, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Ghani, F3, Ghani, and Ante Sundaraniki last summer, exactly one year ago. In general, the market benefits from summer films. Because of this, star-studded films will compete for viewers this season, yet no major stars released films this year.
Except for Nani Dasara and Sai Dharam Tej Virapaksha, whose flicks pleased the public at the box office, this summer’s movie releases were mostly middle-of-the-road. There are no Telugu films that go well in this season. Box office failures included Ravanasura, Kiran Abbavaram Metre, Allari Naresh Ugram, Samantha Shakunthalam, and Naga Chaitanya’s Custody, AKhil Agent. and there are no films starring prominent actors like Mahesh Babu, Jr. NTR, Pawan Kalyan, Chiranjeevi, and Balayya. Mentoo, Malli Pelli, and Anni Manchi Shakunamaule, two recent films, failed to impress.
At the end of the season, only dubbing films scored a decent hit, with Bichagadu 2 and the 2018 movies. During the mid-season, Vetrimaaran Vidudala also scored a hit. In Tollywood, this is the most disappointing season for the Telugu audience. At present, the box office is pinning its hopes only on Adipurush’s movie.
