The Superman script’s first draft is done.

Superman: Legacy will be part of DC Studios’ first slate for its rebooted Dc universe which is being called Chapter One: God and Monsters. The film will be written and directed by Guardian Of The Galaxy and the Suicide Squad filmmaker James Gunn, who was hired to become co-CEO of Dc studios in November 2022.

Superman Legacy tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as clark kent of Sanville, kansan,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. Gunn previously confirmed that Superman: Legacy had progressed enough through development for casting considerations to begin. He wrote on social media, “We have some incredible choices… I’m incredibly excited, and relieved,”.According to the Wrap, Gunn had been able to submit the first draft of the screenplay to the studio before the strike.

Though it was recently reported that the film is set to start production in January 2024 and is scheduled to be released on July 11, 2025. But now it is unknown if or how the WGA strike will impact the project. Superman Legacy is produced by Warner Bros Studios.
