Shaakuntalam, an adaptation of internationally acclaimed Kalidasa’s Sanskrit play Abhijnana, starring Tollywood leading lady Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Dev Mohan, is set to release on February 17 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Interestingly, the film is also released in 3D.
The plot of Shaakuntalam revolves around the epic love story of Shaakuntala and King Dushyant from the Mahabharata, portrayed by Samantha and Dev, respectively. These lead pair were last seen in Samantha’s Yashoda. The film’s release date was November 4, 2022. However, the release has been postponed several times due to various reasons, and Sam is also suffering from a rare disease.
The makers announced the date to release the film’s trailer. On January 9, the makers will unveil the trailer for the film. Already, the released poster has left the audience in awe and mesmerized, heightening their excitement and expectations for this upcoming mythological drama on the big screen.
This love story is directed by Gunasekhar, a highly skilled director. The cast includes Sachin Khedekar, Kabir Bedi, Dr M. Mohan Babu Prakash Raj, Madhubala, Gautami, Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla, and Jisshu Sengupta played pivotal roles. Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha plays the role of Prince Bharata.
