The Archies received international reviews as well: Chip In for details

The Archies, a recent directorial venture by Zoya Akhtar introducing star kids Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda, and Suhana Khan along with Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja, Yuvraj Menda, Aditi Dot Sehgal, premiered on Netflix on Thursday.

The Archies was released in an Indian adaptation, which the foreign publications also reviewed after watching the film. At the same time, some lauded the director’s editing, while others liked peppy songs. Some prominent foreign publication critics also reviewed the film.

The Guardian’s critic gave a 3/5 rating for the Anglo-Indian kid’s story, quoting, “It’s that very dualism which makes this goofy musical fascinating, a guilt-free pleasure that’s nevertheless super-corny and ridiculous.”

Collider critics praised the upbeat adventures and the fresh take on the iconic characters. Archie’s indecisiveness is criticized but applauded for keeping the reimagination accurate to the original concept.

The New York Times reviewed, “The film does its darnedest to dazzle from its lavish production design to its showboating cinematography. For good measure, Akhtar slaps cartoon-style exclamations on the screen: “Smack!” “Pow!” and, for Hindi speakers, “Dhishoom!”

The Review Geek gave a mixed review of The Archies, “Peppered with witty one-liners, stunning visuals, and an energy that practically leaps off the screen, The Archies is a treat”.

Zoya Akhtar helms the Archies under Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar’s production banner Tiger Baby Films.
