Teja Sajja
Prasanth Varma‘s directorial small-budget superhero film Hanuman starring Teja Sajja crossed the ₹250 crore mark worldwide earlier. In a recent chat, the actor spilled the beans about the superhero film HanuMan. He revealed that he refused 70-75 projects for HanuMan.
Teja Sajja starrer surprised everyone with its long legs at the box office. Despite having a minimal budget of Rs 40 crores, the film earned over ₹200 crores and received plaudits for its effective use of visual effects. The protagonist, Teja Sajja, admits that making the film requires a great deal of sacrifice and hard labor.
In a recent conversation, he said “Before we started, we wanted to crack the desi superhero look. I did 25 look tests, usually an actor does two or three and finalizes one. Once we started shooting, it was a very strenuous process for action sequences. There are no head replacement shots like in big-budget films. Every stunt in the film was performed by me, even including underwater sequences. We didn’t have the budget, so I learned scuba diving. We figured other ways to do crane shots.”
Teja Sajja further said “I did only this film. There were many other opportunities I must have rejected, about 70-75 that came my way in this journey. At Least 15 would have been considerably decent projects. I was always committed to HanuMan.” The actor revealed that it took two and a half years to complete the superhero film, and he didn’t take up other projects.
