SP: Violence on behalf of any religion is a huge sin

Lady Powerstar Sai Pallavi has become the center of controversy for the past few days because of her statement in a recent interview. She compared the Kashmir Pandits’ exodus with the mob lynching incidents, which greatly irked the pandits and right-wing groups. There was heavy trolling of her on social media and pressure on her to clarify her statements. On Saturday night, she released her explanation regarding her statements in that interview.

“This is the first time that I’m getting in touch with you. In a recent interview, I was asked if I’m left or right, and I clearly stated that I’m neutral. We need to be good human beings first before we identify ourselves with our beliefs. The oppressed need to be protected at any cost. After watching the Kasmir Files, 3 months ago I had the opportunity to speak with the director and told him how disturbed I was seeing the plight of the people. I’d never belittle tragedy like genocide. Generations of people are still affected by it. I can never come to terms with the mob lynching incident that has taken place in the covid times. I remember seeing that video, and I was shaken completely. I believe that violence on behalf of any religion is a huge sin. This is all I intend to say. Being a doctor, I see all lives are equal. I felt so alone and conflicted when I was targeted and it’s heartwarming to see people raise their voices for me. I thank everyone who stood by my side. I wish you all happiness, peace and love,” said the Premam actress.
