Shruti Haasan: “There’s no life to it”

Shruti Haasan music

Shruti Haasan is the epitome of music. She’s not just a very soulful, melodious singer, but also a performer. When she enters the stage, she owns it like nobody else can. Her outfit, her hair, her aura, her vibe, her ambience – whatever you think is needed for the performer’s music to knock at your soul – she’s got it all. Kollywood’s megastar Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruti Haasan, is a gem and we know only the tip of the iceberg so far.

Avid fans of Shruti are aware of her eternal passion for music, especially rock and metal. But, she doesn’t believe in turning a blind eye towards the issues in something she loves. While rock and metal are two of the most celebrated music forms in the world, there’s also a decreasing graph-line when it comes to people’s interest, and Shruti Haasan shared a video about the same on her story.

The man says, “It all feels the same, it’s the same plug-ins, it’s the same fake guitar tones, it’s the same fake drums, I mean, there’s no life to it. Then they wonder why no one’s listening to rock or metal. When everything sounds the same, how do you figure out what to listen to? So, to me, that’s one of the reasons why I’ve kept the way that I record, very traditional. We get into a room together, we record together, we jam together, we let the music become a thumbprint instead of a dial tone.”

On the work front, Shruti Haasan still does movies but not as prominently as music. Her last movie was Waltair Veerayya in 2023 and next, her music and acting both will be seen in the forthcoming movie Salaar.
