Shahid Kapoor is an Indian actor who works in Hindi films. He earned praise for playing a troubled businessman in Imtiaz Ali’s romantic comedy Jab We Met and twin brothers in Vishal Bhardwaj’s action film Kaminey.

The actor’s highest-grossing releases were the period drama Padmaavat (2018) and the romantic drama Kabir Singh (2019). In Padmaavat, Shahid played the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh.

Padmaavat is a 2018 Indian historical drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie stars Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Ranveer Singh as the main leads.

Padmaavat is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made as the budget was somewhere around ₹250 crore. It was released in Indian theaters on 25th January 2023.

In a recent interview with Humans of Bombay, the actor shared that he didn’t like himself in Padmaavat. When he was asked to name one of the characters that he would like to revisit and play differently, the actor said that he would like to replay the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh.

The actor said, “I did not like myself. I was so uptight. I think I did not bring out other elements of that personality, I got stuck in a headspace. I am being candid, maybe other people liked me, but I did not.
