Pathaan’s monumental success marked a triumphant return for Hindi cinema in the post-COVID-19-induced pandemic era. Shah Rukh Khan also marked his on-screen comeback after a four-year hiatus since Zero (2018). Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Aditya Chopra for YRF Spy Universe in January 2023, marked Shah Rukh Khan’s transition to an action star.
According to inside sources close to the film, Shah Rukh Khan is poised to reprise his role in the sequel to the action film. There’s a significant twist in the YRF Spy Universe timeline—Pathaan 2 will precede Tiger vs Pathaan, showcasing a clash between Salman Khan and SRK.
The report quoted a source: “Soon after its release in January, Adi and SRK decided to spin Pathaan into a standalone franchise within the Spy Universe, and the former started ideating a sequel to this all-time blockbuster.” They are currently in discussions to commence filming for P2 by December 2024.
Reportedly, Developers of Pathaan are crafting the plot to establish it as the universe’s critical spy film, paving the way for a more significant battle ahead. In its wake, the YRF Spy Universe will reveal the upcoming events. Aditya and his team have worked on the Pathaan 2 script for the past year. Pathaan 2 prepares the audience for the forthcoming temporal showdown between Tiger and Pathaan.
