Gunasekhar’s Shaakuntalam which was announced in 2020 is finally set to hit the screens on April 14. It is a mythological drama film which is based on ‘Abhignyana Shakuntalam’, a play written by Kalidasa. The film stars Samantha in the role of Shakuntala, Malayalam actor Dev Mohan as Dushyanta, Mohan Babu as Durvasa Maharishi, Sachin Khedekar, Prakash Raj and Gautami in the lead roles.
Gunasekhar is a popular director who made hit films like Ramayanam, Okkadu, and Arjun. He made the film ‘Rudhramadevi’ in 2015 which was a biographical action film based on the life of Rudrama Devi. The film got a hit and after almost eight years, Sekhar is coming back with this movie. Samantha’s last film ‘Yashoda’ was a hit and this is the first time where Samantha is playing this kind of role.
The ticket prices of the movie in Telangana Multiplexes are ₹295 and ₹150 for a single screen. In Andhra Pradesh, Multiplexes prices are ₹177 and ₹145 for a single screen. The 3D screens will be charged separately. Fans have high expectations from this movie.
