RRR bags highest 1st week collections in Japan

Rajamouli’s directorial RRR is still Unstoppable in creating sensation across the globe. Film starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan continues to shatter records even in Japan.

After crossing the Rs 1000 crore milestone worldwide, the magnum opus started its theatrical run in Japan as well a week ago. The magnum opus was screened in almost 209 screens and 31 IMAX screens in Japan across 44 cities.

The most interesting thing is that this periodic drama collected JPY73 million (Rs 4 crore), according to a source, bagging the reward of highest first week collections for an Indian film in Japan.

With these collections in the first weekend, RRR emerged as the highest grossing foreign film of the week. Besided RRR, Muthu, starring Rajinikanth, continues to be the highest-grossing film in Japan, with its full-run box office collection of JPY400 million (Rs 22 crore). However, we have to wait and see whether RRR will break Muthu’s full run collections at Japan box-office to rewrite the records of Indian films.
