“RRR” and “Chhello Show” at the Oscars

The 95th Academy Awards shortlists have been announced, and India’s official entry, “Last Film Show (Chhello Show), and RRR,” has been shortlisted in the category of “International Feature Film.” It’s a great moment for India, and the creators are delighted.

RRR, the most popular movie directed by SS Rajamouli, is hoping to make a splash at the Academy Awards. RRR became the third highest-grossing movie ever made in India after collecting 902 crores domestically and 1111 crores internationally.

“We are humbled and overjoyed that our heartfelt ode to the cinematic medium, “Last Film Show (Chhello Show),” has been recognised by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the world’s most prestigious awards,” said Chhello Show producers Siddharth Roy Kapur, Dheer Momaya, and Pan Nalin.

We had a gut feeling that the movie was destined for something exceptional ever since the Film Federation of India chose it as India’s official entry for the 95th Academy Awards. We would like to express our gratitude to the FFI, the millions of viewers and admirers of the Chhello Show, as well as to our worldwide distributors for giving the movie a much-needed boost. India is experiencing a historic moment, and we want to bring home the Oscar soon.

RRR has started a campaign called “For your consideration (FYC)” to submit nominations in 14 categories after being turned down as India’s official Oscar entry. The official launch of Team RRR’s Oscar campaign took place last Friday with a sizable screening at the Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles.

While Alia Bhatt will contend for a nomination in the Best Actress category, Ajay Devgn will compete in the Best Supporting Actor category. The song “Naatu Naatu” is battling for the Best Original Song nomination.

Reporter Jen Yamato for the Los Angeles Times tweeted about the nomination contest for RRR.
