Shaktimaan is that superhero for Indians, especially for 90s kids. It is also the first Indian superhero film to depict a human attaining superhuman strength and power through deep meditation and control over five elements of life. There have been talks and confirmations regarding this project for a few years.
Minnal Murali director Basil Joseph will be doing this project, and the main lead who plays Shaktimaan will be Ranveer Singh. Basil Joseph will be making his debut in Bollywood with this film. They are collaborating with Sony Pictures International Productions.
General Manager and Head of Sony Pictures International Productions in India, Lada Guruden Singh, confirmed that the project is on and may require a Rs 550 crore budget. Tovino and Ranveer may collaborate in the future soon after Shaktimaan is released.
The superhero television show Shaktimaan aired on DD National for approximately eight years, starting in 1997. Mukesh Khanna, a newspaper photographer, who portrayed Shaktimaan and his alter ego, Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri, produced the show.
