Rani Mukherjee speaks up about losing her child

Rai Mukherjee lost her second child

Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee attended the Indian Film Festival Of Melbourne 2023 shared a grave personal tragedy that she suffered before filming her latest film Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway.

The actress said, she had not revealed this phase of her life before but she lost her second baby five months into her pregnancy during Covid-19 Pandemic. The actress didn’t want to talk about the concern as the public might find it a promotional tactic.

The actress said, “Maybe this is the first time I am making this revelation because in today’s world, every aspect of your life is discussed publicly, and becomes an agenda for talking about your film to get more eyeballs. Obviously, I didn’t speak about this when I was promoting the film because it would have come across as me trying to speak about a personal experience that would propel the film…so, it was around the year when COVID-19 struck. It was 2020. I got pregnant with my second baby at the end of 2020 and I unfortunately lost my baby five months into my pregnancy,”

Nikhil Advani, one of the producers of Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway had called her within 10 days of her loss but anyway went in as she found the story in disbelief thinking an Indian family would go through something in European countries. She felt enraged knowing that it was a real incident that happened to an Indian Mother.

Rani also thanked the audience for appreciating Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway and felt overwhelmed by all the positivity from the audience. The film directed by Ashima Chibber released on March 17 is now streaming on Netflix.
