Raj Kapoor: The actor who made it possible to cross boundaries with his acting

Marking the centenary birth anniversary, deRivaz & Ives will pay tribute to the legend with a vintage Indian Film Photography and Memorabilia auction, Raj Kapoor @ 100, from December 14-16.

Raj Kapoor’s contribution to Indian Cinema masses was as an actor, director, and producer. He collaborated with music maestros like Shankar-Jaikishan, making anthems for generations with his songs like Jeena Yahan marna yahan and Mein Awara Hoon, transcending boundaries.

His grandson, actor Ranbir Kapoor, basking in his recent success, Animal recalled how he always tried to write his story to do a biopic. After becoming an actor, a director approached him to do the biopic of his grandfather, but he didn’t wish to do so. He doesn’t want to whitewash Raj Kapoor’s story by painting him as this unique, beautiful human being.
