Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan Part: 1 starring Vikram, Jayam Ravi and Karthi is having a dream run at the box office. Aishwarya Rai and Trisha played lead actresses in the movie and the film is receiving a super-hit response, especially from Tamil audiences.
The latest buzz about the film is that the movie joined the $5 million club in the USA and now it is inching close to the 400-crore worldwide club. In the USA, Ponniyin Selvan became the first non-Rajinikanth film in the last 25 years to become the highest-grosser among Tamil films. It has also surpassed the USA collections of Rajinikanth’s 2.0 and emerged as the all-time no.1 Tamil movie in USA in terms of collections. As of now, PS-I earned more than $5.54 million in the United States.
Meanwhile, it is also nearing the 400-crore mark in terms of worldwide gross soon. AR Rahman composed the music for the film while Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies jointly bankrolled this project.
