Priyanka Chopra, the Fashion actress is in awe of the country’s administration and law making skills after the new Women Reservation Bill has passed. It’s not a secret how passionately Priyanka Chopra supports women rights and also those of the oppressed, and constantly utilizes her platform to promote equity every chance she gets.
On Sunday, Priyanka Chopra took to her Instagram story to share a snippet of a news article discussing the enactment of the Women’s Reservation Bill. Praising this introduction, Priyanka Chopra wrote, “Inspiring a new age with this historic milestone. The passing of the women’s reservation bill- ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ is indeed a step in the right direction, but the crucial next phase is its swift and effective implementation. Here’s to an India that truly supports and empowers its women!,” along with an Indian flag emoji.
For the unversed, the Women Reservation Bill is about The Constitution (One Hundred and Eighth Amendment) Bill, 2008 that seeks to reserve one-third of all seats for women in the Lok Sabha and the state legislative assemblies. The allocation of reserved seats shall be determined by such authority as prescribed by Parliament. Moreover, one third of the total number of seats reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes shall be reserved for women of those groups in the Lok Sabha and the legislative assemblies. Reserved seats may be allotted by rotation to different constituencies in the state or union territory. Reservation of seats for women shall cease to exist 15 years after the commencement of this Amendment Act.
