There’s such immense talent in our country that most of it goes unnoticed! Sanjeeta Bhattacharya is a Grammy nominated Indian singer, songwriter and actor. Sanjeeta is a Delhi girl who graduated from the reputed Berklee College of music in jazz and modern American music. What a shame that we haven’t heard of her until now despite her milestones. As part of her personal project, she has released a series of singles and her track, “Everything’s Fine?” put her on Spotify’s global emerging artist program, RADAR in July 2020. Her first international collaboration was with Malagasy singer Niu Raza called ‘Red’. Sanjeeta debuted as an actor in the Netflix series “Feels Like Ishq” on July 23, 2021. Bhattacharya is also known for her performance that paid tribute to A. R. Rahman at Berklee College of Music in 2014 featuring 109 performers from 32 countries.
Now that we know enough about her, let’s find out about her debut with SRK in Bollywood. The hype about his upcoming movie Jawan has been crazy – which Sanjeeta auditioned for. She didn’t even know it was with SRK! “Being surrounded by such seasoned actors, I found myself continuously learning and growing” says Bhattacharya about working around Shah Rukh Khan. He was an absolute sweetheart to her at the workplace, made her feel included and heard. When he learnt she’s a musician, he brought her a guitar and microphone! Sweet candy!
Directed by Atlee Kumar and also starring Vijay Sethupathi, Nayantara and Sanya Malhotra, Jawan is scheduled to release on September 7 this year.
