OMG2, the sequel to the first of the same name, is built around the same theme of religion and the relationship between man and god. The first film revolves around atheism and how many god-people use gullible individual’s religious beliefs for their own financial benefit. The first film shows Akshay Kumar as lord Krishna, while this new movie shows him as the avatar of Shiva.
Akshay can be seen sporting a man-bun and dreadlocks with a mischievous, all-knowing smile and ash smeared across his forehead. His first appearance in the teaser shows him emerging from water inside a temple and grinning ear to ear, gently blessing the unaware protagonist praying to his idol.
In another shot he can be seen wearing rudraksha with water pouring down on him (ganga) and the moon in the background perfectly positioned above his head showing a impeccably detailed depiction of god Shiva. His loyal companion ‘Nandi” can also be seen making a cameo in the last scene.
The teaser starts off with a beautiful narration stating” whether an individual is a believer or an atheist, god shows no bias amongst his creations, answering the call of distress whenever he is needed always” This film is the flipside to the first with the main human protagonist, Kanti Sharan Mudgal being a staunch Shiva devotee but similar in terms of him seeming to have some family drama and legal troubles.
This satirical movie is set to release on August 11th 2023!
