Nawazuddin Siddiqui: “I will only do lead roles”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui previously collaborated with Salman Khan on the films Kick and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, as well as on Raees, in which he played a significant role. He hasn’t been alongside major stars, though, in a while. Since the release of Raees (2017), Nawazuddin has not been involved with a star-driven movie, with the exception of a small part in Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 4.

Nawazuddin stated, “It’s not as if I don’t want to (work with Salman or Shah Rukh),” when asked about it in an interview. If I land a significant role in a big-budget movie, I’ll act similarly to how I have in the past. The difference between the primary and supporting roles matters in this field. No matter if it’s in Hollywood or Europe. However, in this instance, supporting performers are given minor roles. I managed to avoid that, and I don’t want to do it again. Even if I have to put money into the movie myself, I will only take on lead roles.

“Like I did Raees, my character was opposite Shah Rukh and it was important. I did Heropanti 2 even if it did not work, but my character was a major one there. It wasn’t as if it was a blink-and-you-miss it role in a big film. That is the kind of roles I look for in big films now,” he added.
