Manjummel Boys set another new record in Malayalam Film Industry

Manjummel Boys

The latest Malayalam movie, Manjummel Boys, is enjoyed at the Tamil Nadu box office and continues to gain more strength. It has swiftly soared to success, earning the accolade of being the first Malayalam hit of the year. Adding more records to the film, Manjummel Boys is the first Malayalam film that garnered more collections in Tamilnadu than Kerala.

Now, the film has earned another record entering the 100 crore club. Chidambaram’s ‘Manjummel Boys’ has joined the coveted 100 crore club, achieving this milestone within a remarkable 12 days of its release.

The film’s success extends beyond Kerala, garnering positive feedback from audiences in other languages. The record will be made possible due to the historic breakout in Tamil Nadu as Kerala will be at least Rs. 20 crore short of the state record holder.

The growth came from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, where Monday numbers were 45 and 35 per cent higher than their respective Fridays. The second week of the film is headed to be around Rs. 45 crore, bringing it within Rs. 30 crore of breaking the record, possibly achieving this milestone as early as the third week.

Manjummel Boys and Kamal Haasan

Joining the ranks of ‘Pulimurugan’ and ‘Lucifer,’ this film marks the fourth Malayalam movie to achieve the 100 crore milestone solely through theatre collections. Jude Anthany’s ‘2018’ holds the distinction of being the highest-grossing Malayalam movie to date.

The team behind Manjummel Boys, including director Chidambaram S Poduval and actors Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, and Ganapathi S. Poduval, among others, met legendary veteran actor and politician Kamal Haasan to present their film.

The connection between the film and the legendary actor Kamal Haasan is the song Kanmani Anbodu that was set against the backdrop of kodaikanal caves which ultimately came to be known as Gunaa Caves after the Kamal Haasan-starrer was shot there.
