Moon Byul from MAMAMOO is transitioning to embracing her identity as a vocalistr rather than solely a rapper, marking a significant shift in her musical journey. While fans acknowledge her versatility in rap, dance and vocals, her vocal prowess has taken a backseat due to the remarkable vocal abilities of her bandmates — Solar, Wheein and Hwasa.

Moonbyul, the main rapper of the K-pop girl group Mamamoo, sees her solo venture as a journey to discover her authentic identity as a musician. She now plans to break that frame as an all-rounder artist with her first full-length solo album, “Starlit of Muse,” featuring band music, brass music and more.

Moonbyul, in a group interview, said, “I am fortunate to have established a character in the entertainment industry as a singer who has been active for ten years. But I hope to go beyond my limits to become a better artist. That involves continuously enhancing her vocal and dancing skills despite being a rapper by receiving lessons.”

The LP consists of 12 tracks, led by two title tracks, “Think About” and “Touchin&Movin.” The concept of this album derives from the Muses, the nine inspirational goddesses in Greek mythology. Moonbyul says her muse is her fans. Looking ahead, Moon Byul envisions continuing her musical journey for years, expressing a desire to explore various genres and eventually pursue a career as a band vocalist.

MAMAMOO Moonbuyul’s debut solo full-length album, ‘Starlit of Muse’, set to release on February 20, KST, showcases a diverse range of music as Moon Byul emerges as her muse.
