Let’s look at Mithunda’s harships on his 73rd birthday today

Mithun Chakraborty, lovingly addressed as Mithun Da (elder brother in Bengali) is a famous Bollywood actor from ‘Disco Dancer’. That dance video is still played on New Year’s and everyone moves to it fresh as new. Outside his funky appearance on screen, he’s more grounded and considerate than we can imagine. He’s a social worker and also a member of Rajya Sabha. Da is a chemistry student born in Calcutta who started his journey in cinema in 1976 with the superhit Mrigayaa. Today, he turns 73. On this special day, let’s remember all the hardships and bloodshed he faced to reached where he is.

Foremost, he was bullied, insulted, rejected because of his skin colour. Somebody as popular as Mithun Da has seen days where he wasn’t sure if he’d get his next meal. He has slept on footpaths for countless nights.  Mithun Da says the reason he doesn’t want a biopic on his life story is because it won’t inspire them, it’ll break them down to tears. “I am not legendary because I have given hit movies, I am a legend because I have surpassed all the pains and struggles of my life” he says in an interview.

His son Mahaakshay tells netizens that Mithun Da doesn’t let his family bring in any gifts or celebration, but they do it anyways. As a kid, he’s often seen him extremely occupied – this legend has done 6 shifts per day, 2 hours to each project. What a hero!

Mithun Chakraborty is the proof that life can spiral down to the worst and yet, it can become better – patience is a virtue. From crying to sleep, worried about the future, to getting so much love from B-Town, Mithun Da shows us that life gets better only if you want it to. You will fall a million times but you fail when you lose the motivation to get up.
