Late Realization: OTT is killing Theatrical Business

With the hike in ticket prices, many audiences are showing no interest in watching the movies in theatres on the release day or in the subsequent week. This has given room for the OTT platforms to bring the new films to their platform in no time. This seriously affects the theatrical business, and it looks like the producers have finally realized it.

Speaking at the pre-release event of Pakka Commercial, producer Allu Aravind revealed an interesting analysis about the same.

“We’ve realized how hiking ticket prices and releasing the films in a short time from the release date on OTT platforms is not at all helping the film industry. We have realized the same, and because of the same, the recently released films have struck a new deal with OTTs. Also, we won’t be increasing the ticket prices.” said Allu Aravind.

Apparently, this decision applies to the entire film industry, and they are working toward improving the theatrical business than increasing the viewership on the OTT platforms.
