Here’s something you probably didn’t know! Keanu Reeves was in a rock band named Dogstar. The band was formed in 1991 and they were active till 2002. Though the band was moderately successful, they received immense media attention due to their bassist being Hollywood’s very own Keanu Reeves.
After more than 20 years, the band has reunited again at the 2023 BottleRock Napa Valley festival. Keanu Reeves played bass for the group in public for the first time in more than 20 years. Dogstar was formed after Reeves met Mailhouse in 1991 at a supermarket. The actor is the band’s bassist and backup vocalist while Mailhouse is a drummer and percussionist. Bret Domrose, who joined the band in 1994, serves as the lead guitarist.
The John Wick star revealed that prior to the performance, he received some advice from his bandmate Robert Mailhouse .“He was just super positive. He was like, ‘Listen to the music. Just be present in the song, and it will go from there,’” he told the San Francisco Chronicle.
Recently, the actor opened up about reuniting with the band and shared that he missed playing, writing, and doing shows with the band. He added, “We came to a spot where we weren’t playing anymore, and I missed it … Once we started to play, and it felt good, and really positive and creative, that’s when it was like, ‘Okay, let’s make this happen.’”
Keanu also revealed that the band is working on an album.
