Ice Spice has shown interest in working with Katy Perry in the near future. The ‘Roar’ singer is presently performing at The Theatre in the Resorts World casino in Las Vegas as part of her ‘Play’ engagement. Additionally, she has served as an American Idol judge for six years.
The Santa Barbara singer was asked what up-and-coming artist she would want to collaborate with on Sunday (May 21) in an interview with Buzzfeed. She answered without thinking, “Ice Spice,” and then began to sing a line from her duet with PinkPantheress on the “Boy’s A Liar” remix. It was revealed earlier this year that Perry declined the opportunity to collaborate with a pre-fame Billie Eilish because she thought an early version of the latter’s hit “Open Eyes” was “boring.”
In additional portions of the new interview, Perry discussed her time on American Idol and how difficult it is to compete while “being a woman and having a strong opinion.” She indicated she wants Lizzo to participate when asked who she would like to judge the singing competition. She remarked, “I want Lizzo to join American Idol.” “I, Katy Perry, would like to invite you to join the panel. I feel a little underrepresented in the testosterone department. I could use some brave, frank hot takes.
Ice Spice and Queens rapper Nicki Minaj worked together last month to remix Ice Spice’s song “Princess Diana” from her “Like…?” EP. After Lady Gaga danced to the song to promote it, the song’s popularity increased once more.
